CUPE 3799 come on out and support a living wage on UNBC Campus !

The Unite Here, Local 40 staff on campus need our help. They have been trying to negotiate a new contract with their employer for an extended period of time. Have you spoken to a worker from Unite Here? They work at Tim Horton’s, at Stackers, and in the cafeteria at UNBC. They are lovely people who are long term employee’s working in these locations. In exchange for being long term employees, they have been put into a position where they are working without a contract, being asked to accept a $0.10 an hour wage increase after years with no increase, and who have members working two and three jobs just to make a living. It’s not right!

Please plan to re-schedule your lunch hour on Wednesday and come out to support these workers.

Respectfully,

Caroline

What have you done in your union to raise a member up? If not you, then who?

On Wednesday January 24, UNBC Cafeteria workers will hold a protest action at 1:30pm in the Atrium at McCaffray Hall.

Please join in asking the University to take responsibility for their food service contractor, and to ensure cafeteria workers receive a fair contract now!
