Your help is needed urgently.
The collective agreements for CUPE locals 229, 254 and 1302 expired on 30 June 2014. Their bargaining teams have been negotiating with Queen’s since then, with little to show for it except a list of demand for concessions from the university’s administration. Pensions are under attack; various different departments at Queen’s are fighting over budgets; and the university wants the right to hire workers at lower wages and without the benefits earned by CUPE workers.
This casualization of the workforce hurts everyone at Queen’s– workers, students, faculty and staff.
