Nomination period for Local #3799 Executive and Committee Members

The upcoming CUPE Local 3799 membership meeting on Wednesday, January 28th, 2015 will be the nomination meeting for open positions on the Executive. As per our Bylaws, the Executive positions that will be open at the January meeting will be the President, Recording-Secretary, Chief Shop Steward and one three year Trustee term. This is the official notice that nomination’s will close for these positions at the January 28th meeting. If you seek information on the positions, please refer to the Bylaws attached, starting on page three with the President’s job description, the other positions are described following the Presidents job description.

In addition to the Executive positions up for nomination are those on several of our Local’s committees.

One position is open on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. There are four positions that rotate: two that sit on the Employer’s Joint Health and Safety Committee and two that alternate positions, as back up to the two attending the meetings. As a rule, the two alternate positions rotate into the two positions that have sat on the committee for the past year.

Other committees also have positions up for election:

Good of the Union;

Education Committee;

Aboriginal Advocacy Committee;

Job Evaluation Co-Chair;

Employee Recognition Committee.

SCUB Representative

If you have any questions about these committees, or what is involved in chairing the committees, please don’t hesitate to ask. Currently, the Good of the Union, Aboriginal Advocacy Committee and Employee Recognition Committee seats sit empty and we really need people to come forward to chair or sit on the committees.

Elections will be held at the February monthly meeting for all positions if multiple people run for positions.

If you want to run for a position but are not able to attend the January meeting, please forward on a hand written and signed note to any Executive member stating your intention to let your name stand for a position prior to the January 28th meeting.

In solidarity,

Caroline
