Strike pay, gift cards and food bank info for CUPE 3799 Strike Participants

We have received fourteen $50.00 gift cards for distribution to those in need. As we suspect that we will receive more than fourteen requests, we will have a draw for those who request a gift card this afternoon with an eye to distributing the cards before the end of the day, if at all possible. If you would like your name submitted into the draw, please forward a request to contact@cupe3799.ca. All names received will go into the draw. As we would like to distribute the gift cards today, we will cut off entry into the draw by 12:00 p.m. (noon).

There has been a large quantity of food donated to a food bank, currently located at the CUPE Regional Office. We need to move the items from the CUPE Regional Office on Monday. We would appreciate it if members could pick items up to lessen the load that will need to be moved on Monday. If you need items to fill your pantry, please try to get down to the CUPE RO today. Both Deb Nielsen and Dale Laluk have sent out e-mails about the food bank.

Strike pay cheques are ready thanks to a crew of Executive members working through yesterday afternoon. We will have tables set up in the Winter Gardens over the lunch hour (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). We are awaiting confirmation from Conference Services that we have a spot allocated to us by the old Corner Store. If the tables are not set up there, we will be working out of the CUPE Boardroom located in the hallway behind Security.

Please look for further information regarding negotiations and/or job action by the FA to be released as information becomes available to the CUPE Executive.

In solidarity,

Caroline
